Christian Ethics Essays (1551 words) - Bible, Christianity
Christian Ethics Exam 2, Lecture 2 We in our society are happy when we condemn other people. We as Christian cannot do it. The book of Isaiah Isaiah was trying to get the people of Israel to live exclusively according to the righteousness and justice of God. Rather than emulate the nations of Babylon, Assyrian and Egypt. Isaiah has a very clear notion of what justice is and that is the fair treatment of disadvantaged. He mentioned and the psalms mentioned this often and other prophet mentioned this and that is there are three special classes of people in Israel that are to be treated with special care, which are: the orphans, the widows and the strangers. You determine the justice of a society based on how they treat the orphans, the widows and the stranger. Now what do those three have in common? What an orphan and a widow have in common is no father, no male and no patriots. The patriot was the center of all authority and power. All inheritance passes from the patriot to the next patriot and so if you are a widow without a husband or an orphan without a father, you are not part of social power of society. You have not power because it is passed from male to male. The stranger are those people in Egypt who also came out with Moses and the Israelite in the exodus but they where not kin or decedents of Abraham, but they to were part of the protection and blessing of God from the exodus. The strangers were from a different ethical group. Everybody belongs somewhere in the world because in the book of number's it say I have access to land. The strangers had no access to any form of property, God blesses them but when they left Egypt they had no place to live. So the orphans, the widows and the stranger's do not have access to social power. They are what you call the disadvantage. Time and time again, Isaiah, the prophets and the psalms would tell us that we must treated these people fairly because according to Deuteronomy chapter 14 verse 29 (although he said Leviticus) 10% of what you have should go to the orphans, widows and strangers. This is justice. Isaiah form of justice is treating those who cannot take care of themselves fairly. Righteousness according to Isaiah is the right worship of God, which is we really recognize the uniqueness of God. That is one of the reasons why several time throughout Isaiah insults the idols. Righteousness is the right worship and the exclusive worship of God, while justice is to carry those who cannot carry themselves. Chapter 51 verse 17 The reason why Jerusalem is such a devastated and destructive place is because they wanted to emulate the other nations. They did not want to live by extreme righteousness and justice of God, so God judges them for them. Chapter 52 verse 1 This chapter talks about paradox and irony. Paradox those not mean contradiction. Contradiction is when two things don't have the same truth-values. A paradox can be both true but different. Para means aside while dox means opinion Two opinions that are aside but beside one another with different views. Redemption is eschatological according to Isaiah, which is it occurs in history but not according to historical cause. It occurs by God but not in a supernatural realm. What he describes in this chapter is that one-day Jerusalem holy city. It would be heaven on earth. Jerusalem would only become a holy city only if it is done directly by God. God those it not any other thing does it. Not another king, not another ruler, not another intuitions. This has to be done strictly by God otherwise it would just replicate the problem. Example was one of the greatest empires but now it is in ruins. So Isaiah say don't pattern yourself on something that would destroy you like the greed and the injustice but rather pattern yourself by being righteous and just and than you would become the holy city. Chapter 58 1-9 Muedfalsepiety Personal devotion should require social justice and righteousness. But the people of Israel try to manipulate God with

Why is Act I scene V of Romeo and Juliet an effective piece of drama Essays
Why is Act I scene V of Romeo and Juliet an effective piece of drama Essays Why is Act I scene V of Romeo and Juliet an effective piece of drama Essay Why is Act I scene V of Romeo and Juliet an effective piece of drama Essay Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet is about Romeo from the Montague family and Juliet from the Capulet family who meet and fall in love. But the problem is, their families are feuding. They tragically die because of their love for each other and then their families make up.I will be analysing Act I scene V of Romeo and Juliet and showing how it is an effective piece of drama, by showing the Dramatic effects, the Themes, and the Plot Development. In Shakespeares time, the audience was live, and there were no special effects in places like the Globe theatre (Shakespeares plays were written to be performed there), so the actors (or players) had to work hard in portraying their characters and scenes.Dramatic effects that could be created were through changes of mood and pace from section to section, and the behaviour of actors, with the emphasis of words, gesture, and movement. In Romeo And Juliet, Dramatic irony was used a lot, as the audience know that the end is trag ic because of the prologue, but the characters do not know. The characters speech in Act 1 scene 5 shows the contrast of characters; with those who speak in prose are lowborn, servants, and those who speak in blank verse or rhyme are noble, higher, main characters. For example, Wheres Potpan, that he helps not to take away? He shift a trencher! He scrape a trencher! In comparison, Tybalt speaks in rhyme; Now, by the stock and honour of my kin, To strike him dead I hold it not a sin The only exception would be a comedic character speaking in prose, but this does not apply in this scene. The use of contrast and similarity between the old and young, aggressive and sensitive, and noble and lowborn reveals their characters in more depth. There are three main themes included in this play. One theme is Hatred. In Act I Scene V this includes the anger of Capulet towards Tybalt when Tybalt tells Capulet of Romeo at the party. He shall be endurd. What, Goodman boy! I say he shall. Go to. He use s short, snappy sentences, imperatives, to show his anger towards Tybalt. Tybalt shows hatred towards Romeo, as shown here; Fetch me my rapier, boy. What, dares the slave Come hither, coverd with an antic face, To flee and scorn at our solemnity? Tybalt uses sibilance so he sounds spiteful. Tybalt has thoughts of revenge towards Romeo, and says, I will withdraw, but this intrusion shall, Now seeming sweet, convert to bittrest gall. The hatred shown here affects the rest of the play because without this hatred, later in the play, Romeo would have not killed Tybalt, not got sent to Mantua, and the tragedy of Romeo and Juliets death would have not happened. The theme of Love is portrayed when Romeo sees Juliet for the first time. O, She doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night He uses rhyming couplets and portrays Juliet as light, and beautiful compared to everything else. When Romeo and Juliet speak to each other for the first time, they are spe aking in a sonnet, mirroring each others words. They are literally in a world of their own, as they are separate from all the other characters on stage, and the audience is focused on them, even though there is still a party in the background. Romeo and Juliet are having the same amount of lines and important words, such as hands or lips, which shows their mutual feeling, and their true and pure love is shown by their sensitive behaviour and their speaking of hands and lips. To some this may seem flirtatious, but there is religious imagery included, such as; And palm to palm is holy palmers kiss. Juliet is speaking here of the pilgrims that touch the hands of the saints statues in church, and how significant they are, relating them to a kiss. She is literally telling Romeo that he may either touch her hand or kiss her, which makes their love for each other more pure and innocent. The last theme is Fate. Romeo seems to hint a foreboding sense of unease; Ay, so I fear, to more is my un rest. And Juliet speaks of love and death; My grave is like to be my wedding bed. These are premonitions, as what they speak of actually happens later in the play. They also show dramatic irony, as the audience already know what will happen in the end from the prologue. The plot shows cultural traditions and setting of the time, with the family honour of the people of Verona. Tybalt is insulted by Romeos presence at the party, and is honourable to his family. Uncle, this is a Montague, our foe; A villain, that is hither come in spite, To scorn at our solemnity this night his aggression shows that he is an violent and reckless character. At Capulets party, they are to introduce Juliet to Paris, but Juliet does not fall in love with Paris, but with Romeo instead. The party also shows that Capulet has a large house with many servants and a large, full table of food and drink available for anyone who would like to take advantage of this. Come, lets away, the strangers are all gone. This t ells us that he would invite strangers into his house so they would enjoy themselves. This shows his status as quite high for that time, because people of that time were known for their kindness and generosity. The development of the plot shows the characters relationships and motivations grow. More action is introduced, and the audience become tense from the storyline. This scene is very significant towards the rest of the play, and is a significant piece of drama in that way, as the whole production of Romeo and Juliet is a very significant piece of drama itself.

Trust of leadership Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Trust of leadership - Essay Example Trust is the only way to make people follow you, thus every leader should do his/her best to gain trust. First of all, it is important to understand that trust depends on healthy communication. Leaders should be able to listen and promote honesty in workplace relations. In every company communication is a tool to create understanding between employees and senior managers (Lord et al, 1986). Leaders should improve their communication skills in order to establish healthy relationships with employees. Relations at the workplace should be based on the mutual respect and ethical principles established in the organization. Leaders should take care about workplace ethics as it should be among the top priorities. ââ¬Å"Most people don't know how to think about the organizational and societal consequences of low trust because they don't know how to quantify or measure the costs of such a so-called "soft" factor as trust. For many, trust is intangible, ethereal, unquantifiable. If it remains that way, then people don't know how to get their arms around it or how to improve it. But the fact is, the costs of low trust are very real, they are quantifiable, and they are staggeringâ⬠(Covey). In order to make people trust you it is essential to try to meet their needs. A leader should help workers feel comfortable at the workplace. Many people appreciate responsive leaders, who do not stay indifferent to their needs and remember that people are not robots. It is a real art and not an easy task for leader to be responsive and exacting at the same time, but all of the leaders should try to manage this art and adopt the way of behavior that would allow them to gain employeesââ¬â¢ trust and not to lose authority at the same time. ââ¬Å"The job of a leader is to go first, to extend trust first. Not a blind trust without expectations and accountability, but rather a "smart trust" with clear expectations and strong accountability built into the process. The best leaders al ways lead out with a decided propensity to trust, as opposed to a propensity not to trustâ⬠(Coveyà ). Leaders often make serious mistakes by making decisions themselves not sharing their plans with the employees. People usually do not like to follow orders not knowing what they are taking efforts for. They want their employers to value their creativity and to provide them with the opportunity to express it. All the important decisions taken by the leaders of the company should be agreed with the employees. If employees take part in the decision- making process, they will understand that their leaders trust their opinion and, moreover, they need it. That will make employees trust their leaders and believe in them (Lord et al, 1986). The main task of a leader is to make his/her subordinate believe that they are working for both the benefit of the company and their own benefit. In every organizing there should be a spirit of a goal that is the one for everybody and everyone sho uld try to do his/her best to achieve this goal. Employees should believe that reaching the goal of the company will help them reach their own goal and this is the guarantee of success (Lord et al, 1986). Trust is the most important component in leadership. Employees who trust a leader will follow all his/her requirements. The performance of the company will also gain if employees trust their leader. Thus, leaders should take effort to make employees tr

Needs assessment and service coordination Needs assessment plans are a important part of the NASC procedure. The aim of a comprehensive needs assessment is to evaluate an individualââ¬â¢s current capabilities, resources, aims and necessity. It is also important that the process find out the needs that are most important to the individuals. The purpose of the assessment process is to evaluate what is essential to increase that clientââ¬â¢s ability to taking part as fully as possible in community, whilst considering clientââ¬â¢s capabilities, resources, culture, and goal. Also consider clientââ¬â¢s family/whÃâà nau and support worker, their recreational, social and personal improvement needs; training and education needs; vocational and job requirements. There may be different funding sources for supports within these areas of life, a good assessment is focused on a ââ¬Å"whole-of-lifeâ⬠approach and not simply on those areas of a personââ¬â¢s life that are funded by disability support or DHBs. Assessment It is a procedure that helps individuals distinguishes their inability support requirement. This includes a needs assessor meeting with a client, more often than not in their home, and fulfilment of a support Needs Evaluation Structure. support Evaluation is important on the off chance that you oblige access administration coordination support and there is a need to get to government supported services. The consolidated needs appraisal and service coordination model is thought to furnish a far reaching methodology with a registry of services and alludes and joins the person to those service and alludes and joins the person to those administrations which are chosen. It is proposed that the service which client just needs to manage one individual utilizing this joined model and the NASC pathway is all the more auspicious. Where the needs evaluation and service coordination capacities are independent , it has been recommended that the preferences are a more engaged needs evaluation regularly embraced by a clinician or a prepared needs assessor , and afterward a more noteworthy extent of service are offered by an service coordinator. Weakness The weakness of this model have been proposed as having made additional procedures obliging the needs assessor to hand over the data to the service facilitator. There is the potential for data to be lost. However a few services have proposed that this is a proficient methodology guiding the suitable aptitudes to the parts of the NASC procedure. Perspective The Needs assessment and service Co-appointment group helps individuals to get to service that will keep them living securely for whatever length of time that wish. In some DHBs clinicians lead the needs evaluation. While this gives insight about the needs of the person from the clinical viewpoint, it has been recommended that different points of view need to be added to guarantee a comprehensive needs appraisal is attempted. Different DHBs have cured this by asking clinicians to begin the needs assessment with the clinicians point of view, and afterward including the viewpoints of alternate individuals from the multi-disciplinary group until it is finished. Extended Outcome This model discovered potential open doors for service change initiating with a more understanding comprehension of the advantages of a NASC benefit inside of the service continuum and how NASC can be created to improve administration client results. Actualizing the accompanying suggestions will accomplish this. To comprehend and affirm the NASC model that they have picked. This administration model is fortified the upgrade service client responsiveness and enhance coordinating of requirements and desires to administrations. To stretch out NASC obligations to join access service to Group Bolster work and bundles of consideration. This is a developing part of the service continuum. To perceive the estimation of NASC in prioritization of restricted asset and hence put resources into NASC workforce to meet administration necessities. NASC spending plan holding for parts of service, for example, bundles of consideration is further investigated for usage. To audit forms set up to guarante e administration clients needs that may vary over the long haul are tended to. To work collectively to accomplish consistency in frameworks and procedures inside of the locale including embracing gauges, rules, administration particulars, information gathering and evaluation devices. To affirm the favoured ability blend of their NASC groups and try to create NASC aptitude utilizing enrolment strategy, training programme, and developing continuous network. Comparison between Models The correlations between (a) strength based models and (b) needs assessment and services coordination, are portrayed as takes after. The strength based model works with disabled with adequate quality to accomplish self-change. In any case, if one experiences extreme incapacities, it will be troublesome to locate an extraordinary quality to complete the activity of the strength based model. Because of the impediment of the disabled, their qualities are not ready to be successfully connected and actualized, not to notice the improvement of them. The needs assessment model, then again, concentrates on dealing with the goal gathering however does not give them future self-improvements. It intends to give services and backings to incapacitates however not show them how to build up their own specializations. Human Physical Appearance Essay
The appearances of people is like their cover, that? s why it? s so important, because it? s what can be seen, the first thing you note in a person, and like it or not, it tells a lot. It? s like a book, most of the time it? s judged by it? s front page, the right thing would be to read the review where you can know the details of it? s content, but what do you notice first? That why I compare the human appearance with a book, and I affirm that you can? t know a person only by the way they look, because it?à s not always what it seems, wearing designers clothes not necessarily shows your economic status and you can? t know a person only by their physical appearance, because this can be modified by a very important factor, self-esteem According to the Pequeno Larousse Ilustrado (1976), Appearance is ââ¬Å" the outside look of a person or thingâ⬠. In another words is peoples physics, but there are situations in which the person can be criticized by this, specially during the te enage, that are the years of physical and mental development, but the physical part is commonly judged. Are we really conscious of what we say about other people? , I? m not saying it? s wrong, because the physical appearance is important, but is it all?. The appearance are not always what they look like, and even more in the teenage, the psychiatrist Felix Loracca says that we are modeling are personality in function of what others expect from us. For example, psychologists say that women tend to want to be accepted, not so much for their personality but for them to feel prettier. Young men present a similar case, now that they pay a lot of attention to their physical appearance, without neglecting their clothes, their hair, etc. The way each and every one of the teenagers practice their personal care for their appearance changes from one to another, but basically the aim is the same one, ââ¬Å"try to look goodâ⬠. Teenagers not only change their clothes, but their response, their expressions, their vocabulary and recreative activities. The way they dress and the physical appearance become very important, it can be a way to express solidarity with their friends, or as a way to declare their growing independence from their families. Another important aspect to consider is that clothing not necessarily proves your economical status, and this is more discussable nowadays, because material things donââ¬â¢t tell who you really are, a good example of this is Mahatma Gandhi, who despite of everything he owned economically speaking, acted like the most humble person in the world. People use to go for others clothing. Physical appearance influence, but is not determinant when we meet someone, and you canââ¬â¢t determine their economy, or their education by this, because everybody can have any kind of clothes or material objects without mattering the cost of these, there is who say ââ¬Å"fashion, what suits youâ⬠and people can dress according with what they feel comfortable with without caring what other people think about them. Elton Mayo says that human relationships are majorly based in ties that exist between the members of society, thanks to communication, that can have many ways: principally visual, linguistically, affective and by specially created languages for the development of complex societies, thatââ¬â¢s why he affirms that there is some importance in the physical appearance. One of the human needs is to relate with other living creatures, like Maslow shows in his hierarchical pyramid, in the affiliation is the friendship, or the creation of relations with other people. But in any moment he affirms the importance of the physical appearance. The changes in how we look to others are related with our self-esteem and not to our auto-perception, thatââ¬â¢s why any change in our physical appearance can affect our present ME status, if we donââ¬â¢t have the ability to accept and adapt to these changes, in the same way this affects directly in our emotional status. In conclusion, physical appearances are an important part of people presence, but they are not determinant in the way to judge them, for what we saw previously. They exist an infinity of questions that we can make as thinking beings, that we lead us to much more questions, but it all ends in ourselves, the answer is in each one of us, you decide what to base in, how to act with others and how you want them to see you, but without losing your own personality.

In many cases, she has to rely on nurses from general float pool to cover the staff on leave, but this often lead to negative effect to her staff dynamics because the substitute nurses is not familiar with the GSU. There are three broad problem Barbara has to solve: lack of collaboration and teamwork, staff conflict either within her unit or within the hospital, and lack of transparent performance appraisal procedures. All of this three issues need to be address simultaneously to ensure that the unit perform as Barbara expected. It is evident that there is conflict between junior nurses, senior nurses, and PCASââ¬â¢s which lead to ineffective collaboration among them. Junior nurses feels like the donââ¬â¢t belong to the team and they donââ¬â¢t get positive feedback from senior nurses. On the other hand, senior nurses feels that many junior nurses and PCAââ¬â¢s are incompetent and feel overwhelmed to support them. To solve this issues, Barbara need to redefine a clear role among the nurses and make sure that the role is properly understood by all her staff. In redefining the role, she must include advice from her staff to ensure that the role definition fit within her unit. She also need to develop a transparent communication mechanism to solve any role discrepancy within her unit. To address the performance appraisal issues, Barbara needs to start creating a transparent review process. Although she still facing a budget constraint, she can utilize non-monetary approach to reward her staff. This can be in form of formal recognition in staff meeting or announcement of monthly best-staff. Although it would not directly impacted to her staff salary, it can be a great motivational tools for the junior staff to feel recognized. Barbara should also make a system where senior nurses can have a positive feedback in performance review by helping a junior nurses. Whenever possible, Barbara should persuade the hospital director to increase her unit budget. If approved, she could make a properà adjustment to the staff salary and position based on their previous performance.
